I lived in Manhattan and worked as a freelance editor from the 1990's until 2003.

In 2003 I got married and became the co-owner of a media production company in New Jersey. Since then, I continue to work in New York City and New Jersey. My husband's company, MultiMedia Video, built a new facility in Metuchen, New Jersey in 2005.

The facility uses FInal Cut Pro 7 and Adobe Premiere Pro CC, with three dedicated edit rooms, a voice booth and a networked control room. It still has a full complement of tape based SD edit decks. All edit rooms also run Pro Tools.

Most of my clients now take advantage of this dedicated, separate workspace which is included at no extra cost in my fee. (My husband runs his production company separately from my edit business; my clients have the benefit of a full time facility with dedicated, maintained equipment and 24 hour access). I can also arrange shooting through MultiMedia Video if needed.

My facility is less than a mile from a direct train to New York. It is just 3 minutes from exit 10 of the New Jersey Turnpike (New York is 30 minutes away).

This arrangement works well for everyone: I get to work close to home in a familiar facility, my clients get a free workspace, equipment, support staff and FTP server, and my husband gets to see me for lunch while he continues to run his corporate media production company.

More than half of my work is done in my clients' workspaces, usually in New York. I also have access to shared workspace in New York with screening capability.
